After completing comprehensive residency training in general surgery and orthopedic surgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Dr. Chen subsequently completed advanced fellowship training in clinical research at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and biomechanics at the University of Iowa in the United States. He then served as an attending orthopedic surgeon. In 2016, he was appointed Clinical Professor at Taipei Medical University.
For more than 30 years, Dr. Chen has specialized in hip and knee joint replacement surgery. In 2016, he introduced advanced AI-enabling joint replacement procedures, including the MAKO Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System and Computer-Assisted Navigation.
To date, Dr. Chen has performed more than 35,000 joint replacement procedures, including more than 2,500 precision joint replacement procedures utilizing AI-assisted technologies.
